make input textbox active by default?

In IOS app (using Bluetooth keyboard) if there is a text field on the screen you have to click in it first to be able to type, but in the web app (using chrome on a PC) there is already a blinking cursor in the text box... is there a setting or a shortcut for IOS that I could do to make it so I can just type (without poking the screen first?)
I think the old version of Commons a long time ago had something about this, but I cant find it anymore...
