I often have trouble with understanding / missing words. For example, to me in the basic conversation este está bien sounds like it is being conjugated to something like estestá bien - initial I thought the phase was tambiem, but that made zero sense. I'm assuming this is common to run words together and why it appears difficult to understand when beginning Spanish. (i.e. Spanish is hard because they talk so fast.) Any suggestions on how to learn to listen better? Maybe it is just me.

You can just read it over... for disk. Online there is a "slow speak" button that makes all speakers slower.
