Match the Phrases: Voy a comer con ellos a esa lugar todos los días. In this sentence, preposition "a" is placed before a place/destination, giving the translation, "I go to eat with them TO that place every day." "Voy a comer con ellos A esa lugar todos los días."
Shouldn't this sentence be, "I go to eat with them AT that place everyday." ? Can preposition "en" be used also? ---> Voy a comer con ellos en esa lugar todos los días. Why is it that "A" instead of "EN" is used here?

Just out of curiosity, what session is this from? Lugar is a masculine noun, so it should be "ese lugar," on a separate note.

If the sentence were "Comemos en ese lugar todos los dias," it would be "We eat in/at that restaurant every day."
Since "ir" (voy) is used, we need the preposition "a" to express "to/at."

Voy a comer. I go to eat.
Voy a ese lugar. I go to that place.
Voy a comer a ese lugar. I go to eat at that place.

The conjugated verb is the one to pay attention to in these cases. Comer is in the infinitive in this sentence, so the place is not where the person is eating, but where they are going.

A trick in English grammar is to remove parts of a sentence, and if the sentence still makes sense, you can see what the appropriate word usage is. I use this with Spanish as well, and it's worked for me so far!

Just realized I put "restaurant" instead of "place" in my first example sentence. Sorry!

Hi, Zac! You are right that lugar is a masculine now and it should be "ese lugar". Thank you for the explanation.
