In session 1.2, we learned "un' altra cosa" for "something else"

In session 1.19 we learned "qualcos' altro" for "something else"

Can we use these interchangeably, or are there situations where one is preferred over the other?

un altra cosa can be translated as "another thing", and "qualcos' altro" would be "anything else". "qualcos'" comes from "qualcosa" which means anything, something.
