"Umlaut" vs. "dots"

Certainly not a big deal, but by this relatively late stage in the in the program, shouldn't "dots" be referred to by the correct term "umlaut."

The article is interesting but doe not give a reason for calling Umlauts dots. Most German grammars
label the "umlaut" as an "umlaut" .
