Is there is a way to type a capital U with an umlaut within the program? This first came up in level 3 German, lesson 10 with the new noun "Uebung" and its plural "Uebungen". In Commons posts is it also OK to use "ue" for "u-umlaut" as I did here? If there is a way to type in umlauted characters here in the Commons, I haven't found that either.

I don't know about the commons but in the program I found that if I hit the Caps Lock and then the next letter in the word it autocorrects the first letter to have a capital with the umlaut

For lower case ü, type the ] key (two keys right of the letter p). To type a capital Ü just hold down the shift key, then type ]. On the screen it will look like } but when you keep typing the Ü will show up. Hope that makes sense. Same goes for the ö, but that key is [ (one key right of p).

Now, in general when typing these letters, such as here in the commons, online, etc. on Apple, hold down the Option key and type u. The umlaut will appear. Then type the letter you wish to umlaut. I think this works with Microsoft products as well.
