I'm wondering what other users have done to expand on Fluenz after level 5. My plan is to read a few books by Brian Smith (ex: German Easy Reader - Super 500 for Beginners), the German Frequency Dictionary by Tschirner and Jones, and a few grammar books I picked up from Amazon. Does this seem like a good plan? Brian Smith's books have mp3s so I can practice my listening skills. I don't really have many options for speaking practice aside from a German cook who lives nearby. Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi Andy, I think you may have meant to comment on this post but all I'm seeing is a period.

I did that in order to bring the post up to the top so others can see it.

Deutsche Welle has a TON of tools and free courses to keep you busy. Go to http://www.dw.com/en/learn-german/s-2469 and take a look. And it's all free!

Hi Meshmess.
I don't know where you live, but you can check out Meetup.com, and see if there is a German language group in your area. There is one in my area (Minneapolis, MN) that meets regularly at a German restaurant, but I'm waiting to finish all 5 levels before I attend. I also plan to attend a German language course in Germany, probably in Hamburg. But I haven't made any arrangements for this yet, as they will have a placement test, and I would rather learn the basics at home and focus on pronunciation and conversation skills and more advanced topics in Germany.
